Champion jockey Glen Boss announces retirement after stellar career

Champion jockey Glen Boss has introduced he’ll retire, ending a stellar career within the saddle.

The 52-year-old will journey for the ultimate time this Saturday at Caulfield, the place he’ll journey Spanish Mission within the Group 2 Zipping Classic.

The information broke on Thursday evening, with tributes flowing instantly for the legendary rider, as he reminisced on his ultimate moments with three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva.

“It’s given me so many nice thrills,” Boss advised Channel 7.

“I’ve decided that I’m retiring from skilled race-riding after Saturday.

“To be on the degree I wish to be at on a regular basis and to be on the degree that I must be at, you’ve received to be all chips-in. Especially within the final three months, I felt that I used to be wavering.

“That ultimate second along with her (within the 2005 Melbourne Cup), that second the place I took my palms off the reins, it simply showcased her.

“That’s the best second I’ve ever had on an animal.”

Boss’ three wins within the Melbourne Cup aboard Makybe Diva have been the clear highlights of his career, in addition to 4 Cox Plates and two Golden Slippers.
